Essential One Day Courses

The Duncan University Essentials Coursework consists of four one day seminars, which are held from 9.00a.m till approx 4.00.p.m. and should be taken in sequence, although it  is not mandatory. Essentials Couses have been designed to introduce ceramics to a newcomer as well as provide existing ceramists with up to date product information.

Participants are required to complete all four Essentials classes for the Duncan Certified Teacher Award. CDT.

Here at the House Of Ceramics France we can do the four day courses with you in 3 Days however it does make it very long days from 9.00 a.m till 7.00 p.m.

The cost of the Course is 75.00 Euro per person per day for all four days, so the total for the education is 300.00 Euro per person.

Even if you chose to do your essentials over 3 Days the 300.00 Euro fee is still charged. Please add 30.00 Euro per night if you require accomodation.

The above fees include all greenware and bisque that is required to finish your essentials projects also light lunch. Residents will be provided with breakfast included in their accomodation charge. Evening Meals can be provided if required by negotiation.

Essentials 1          Earth, Fire and Colour

Earth, Fire and Colour is designed to introduce decorative ceramics from the earthen clay state to the fired piece. Students will create decorative low fire ceramic pieces using slip, ceramic molds and a kiln.

Upon course completion, students will have essential knowledge required to successfully create a variety of quality cone 04 ceramique bisque,

Essentials 2          Seasonal Colour

Seasonal Colour demonstrates design inspired by European traditional ceramic art.

Using the most traditional decorative paints in the Duncan fired color family, you will experience Cover Coats and E - Z stroke translucent underglazes.

Essentials 3            Classical  Colour

This course explores primitive design elements, color schemes and motif. Inspired by nature, a  motif was the art of early man.

Classical  Colour touches upon art from some of the most fascinating regions of the world, from the Incas in Peru to design elements from Africa.

Explore the possibilities and take atrip back through time with Duncans most exotic glazes.

Essentials 4             Acrylic Colour

Discover the exciting world of acrylic colour.

In this one day course, you`ll learn a wide variety of techniques using nonfired color paints, from acrylic brushstrokes to dry brushing, antiquing and sealing and everything in between. 

TEACHER TRAINING SEMINAR DATES 2006 / 7 / 8

The four day course is held twice every month one Monday - Thursday and one Friday - Monday. we can do alternative dates to fit in with your schedule, please call us to discuss your requirements.

If you decide to do the 3 days course the price is still that of the full four days as the same amount of bisque, paint and tutorial time is used.

ACCOMODATIon          25.00   Euros Per Person Per Night  Includes breakfast.

Light lunch plus tea/coffee breaks are included in the course fee.
